Jye Whiteman

Jye is an alternative folk artist based in Brisbane, and has quickly formed a reputation for bringing rowdy pub crowds to silence and stopping bystander in the street for hours at a time. At the end of 2013, Jye decided to call it quits on his Electrical Apprenticeship and chase his dream. He has since won the Omalley’s ‘Underground Sounds’ competition, edging out some of Brisbane’s most talented undiscovered acts, toured the east coast of QLD busking for fuel and food, and is now on the verge of releasing his debut EP.

At the end of 2013, after attending a Sticky Fingers gig, Jye found himself playing on the beach with some strangers in Byron Bay. Mid Jam, Sticky Fingers keys player Freddy Crabs walked up and spontaneously introduced himself to Jye Expressing interest in his music and offered to help him in his journey. From this experience, Jye was inspired to finally take the leap into the chasing his dreams and letting go of his fears and has since been in contact with Freddy.

Jye performs a unique blend of indie folk music stemming from a truly raw emotional style of writing and translating to an ambient soulful stage performance leaving his heart on display for all to see. Jye has been compared to the likes of Matt Corby, Jeff Buckley and Paolo Nutini.
